Herakleion, Greece

(1 customer review)

Discover Heraklion, the largest urban center of Crete! A modern city with Venetian and Ottoman traces that constantly remind us of its medieval past. If you are detail-oriented person, please pay attention to the public artifacts, they all hide a lot of city stories. Time-travel to the magical Minoan past, after all, Knossos is only a breath away from the city! Overall Heraklion is the city of contrasts: modern and noisy with a deep history behind it. Sometimes it is obvious and sometimes you have to search hard to find it.

Don’t forget, this is not just an ordinary self-guided tour. This is a gamified exploration experience, where riddles and quizzes for each new place you visit, engage you more with your surroundings and make you discover even more exciting new things in each stop. The best explorer gets the biggest collection of gems and wins special rewards in our network of local souvenir shops and museums.  Check our handpicked collection of shops out, they are really something!

Initially we did the Knossos Palace tour that we booked on spot outside the archaeological space. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to also try the Heraklion one. We highly appreciated how the monuments were contextualized and the fact that the tour was self-paced.
